Why Roblox holds Robux

When someone buys from you, the Robux are pending for a while. You cannot spend them or cash them out until the hold ends.

The hold gives Roblox time to catch payments made with stolen cards. A sale that turns out to be fraud can be taken back before the Robux are yours.

A hold is not a fee. When it ends, every Robux of your share is yours, and Roblox keeps nothing more.

Pending Robux show in your account with the date they become yours. They count toward nothing until then: not your balance to spend, not the Robux you can cash out.

The Robux pending time calculator gives the day for a sale of yours.

Robux hold times

How long does Roblox hold pending Robux from a game pass? Its pages say about 5 days. Its announcement on pending sales put the range at 3 to 7 days, depending on the risk of fraud.

Developer products and subscriptions paid in Robux share that hold. Paid access bought with Robux is held for up to 7 days.

Avatar items wait longer: 30 days, sold in a game or on the Marketplace. Creator Rewards wait 60 days.

Subscriptions sold for real money give you Robux after 30 days, once the month the player paid for is over.

These holds count calendar days. A sale on a Friday is not held longer because of the weekend.

Roblox payout time

Money held for paid access sold for real money is held for at least 60 days, then paid once a month. The Creator Store holds money for 30 days and pays it on the first of the next month.

Paid access sold for real money pays you money, not Robux. So it never counts toward the Robux you need to cash out.

Cashing out earned Robux has its own wait. Roblox checks a first DevEx request in about 10 working days and a later one in about 5.

Working days are Monday to Friday, and public holidays are not taken out, so a check can take a little longer than that.

After the check, the payment company sends the money. That can take a few more days, depending on how you are paid.

A first cash-out from a new sale therefore waits three times. First the hold of the sale, then about 10 working days of checks, then the payment itself.

From pending Robux to money

A hold is only the first wait. Once it ends, the Robux of a sale count as earned Robux: you can spend them, and they count toward a cash-out.

Pending Robux do not count toward the 30,000 earned Robux you need to cash out. A big sale can only be cashed out once its hold ends.

To cash out you need at least 30,000 earned Robux, and Roblox then checks your request. The how to cash out Robux guide explains each step, and earned Robux which Robux count.

The game revenue calculator adds every share and every wait, from a sale to the money in your account. For the daily rewards Roblox pays, the Creator Rewards calculator estimates a month of them.

What this page cannot know

  • Whether Roblox checks a sale of yours for longer. A sale that looks risky can stay pending to the end of the range.
  • Your time zone. Roblox counts days by its own clock.
  • Refunds. A sale that is refunded during the hold never becomes yours.
  • The hold of private servers. Roblox states none, so we use the hold of game passes.
