What is earned Robux?

Earned Robux are Robux that players paid you for something you made. A game pass in your game and a hat you designed both earn them.

Robux you bought, got with a gift card or were sent by someone are not earned. You can spend them, but you can never cash them out.

Roblox pays $0.0038 for each earned Robux at the normal rate. You need at least 30,000 of them before you can cash out.

Where earned Robux come from

You earn Robux when a player buys something from you. Roblox keeps a part of every sale, and the rest is yours.

  • Game passes: something players buy once in your game.
  • Developer products: something players can buy again and again, like coins.
  • Private servers: a copy of your game for one player and their friends, paid every month.
  • Subscriptions paid in Robux: something players pay for every month.
  • Avatar items you made, sold on the Marketplace or in a game.
  • Creator Rewards: Robux Roblox pays you for bringing players who spend.

A game pass pays you 70% of its price, and Roblox keeps 30%. A developer product pays you 70%, a private server 70% and a subscription paid in Robux 70%.

Avatar items follow other shares, which the Robux tax calculator works out. The Roblox fees page lists the share of every kind of sale.

Robux that are not earned

Robux you bought in a pack, on any device, are never earned. Robux from a gift card are not either.

Robux a friend sends you are not earned, even inside a game. When a player sends Robux this way, a transfer, the game keeps 10% and you get 90%, which you can only spend.

If you sell again a Limited item that someone else made, your part is not earned either.

Roblox Plus does not earn you Robux either. It is Roblox's monthly plan, and it gives money off what you buy with Robux, never Robux of its own.

Earned Robux from items and rewards

An avatar item sold inside a game pays three sides. For an item of 400 Robux, you get 120, the game's owner gets 160 and Roblox keeps 120.

On the Marketplace, Roblox's shop for avatar items, your share grows with the price. An item of 150 Robux on a price floor of 100 earns you 62.

Robux from avatar items are held longer than other sales. The Robux of a Marketplace sale are pending for 30 days before you can spend or cash them out.

Creator Rewards are earned Robux too. Roblox pays 5 Robux a day for each Active Spender who plays your game, and holds them for 60 days.

An Active Spender is a player who spent at least $9.99 on Roblox in the past 60 days. The Creator Rewards calculator works out a month of them.

The UGC profit calculator adds an item's upload fee and advance. The Roblox subscription calculator works out what subscriptions earn.

Why the difference matters

Sites that promise to turn any Robux into money are scams. Only earned Robux can be cashed out, and only through Roblox itself.

It also matters when you set a price. To earn 700 Robux from one sale, the price has to be 1,000, because Roblox keeps 300.

So count what you earn, not what the player pays. The Robux tax calculator works it out in both directions.

Your earned Robux balance

Your Robux balance in the Roblox app mixes bought and earned Robux. Your earned Robux balance is shown separately, in the Creator Dashboard.

Robux from a new sale are held for a few days first. A game pass sale is held for about 5 days, between 3 and 7. Until then they show as pending and cannot be cashed out.

Roblox also splits your earned Robux by rate. Older Robux, earned before , are worth $0.0035 each. Robux spent by adults in the United States who proved their age can be worth $0.0054.

The hold times page lists the hold of every kind of sale, and the DevEx rates page every rate.

How to check your earned Robux

  1. Open the Creator Dashboard

Sign in on the Roblox website and open the Creator Dashboard. The phone app does not show earned Robux.

  2. Find your balance

The DevEx part of the dashboard shows the earned Robux you can cash out now, and how many are older or US 18+ Robux.

  3. Look at pending sales

Sales that are still held show as pending. Their Robux join the balance you can cash out when the hold ends.

  4. Work out what they are worth

Type your balance into the DevEx calculator. It pays your older Robux first, as Roblox does.

The earned Robux wallet that is coming

Roblox has announced Roblox Wallet, a new way to pay creators their earned Robux. Roblox says it starts rolling out in December 2026.

It starts with creators based in the United States who are aged 18 or over and work on their own as sole proprietors.

Roblox has also announced that DevEx stays available in the United States until the middle of 2027. Everyone else keeps cashing out through DevEx. Our data updates give the announcement with its date.

What this guide cannot tell you

  • Your own balance. Only your Creator Dashboard shows it.
  • Every kind of sale. Some, like avatar items, follow shares that depend on the price. The Robux tax calculator covers them.
  • How Roblox rounds. Roblox does not say, so we round down to a whole Robux, like its own examples.
  • Tax. Roblox can keep back US tax from payouts made on or after , which the DevEx tax calculator estimates.
