How to cash out Robux

How to cash out Robux: earn enough of them, then Roblox pays you in dollars.

Checked against Roblox's own pages on . Sources

The short answer

You can only cash out Robux you earned, never Robux you bought. You need at least 30,000 of them, and you must be 13 or older.

Roblox then pays $0.0038 for each earned Robux. So the smallest cash-out of 30,000 Robux is worth $114.00.

DevEx is how Roblox pays creators real money. Its name is short for Developer Exchange. Every way to cash out Robux goes through it.

Who can cash out Robux

Creators are the people who make games and avatar items. Players pay them in Robux, and those Robux are earned Robux. The guide to earned Robux explains which Robux count.

  • You are at least 13 years old.
  • Your Roblox account has a verified email address.
  • You have 30,000 earned Robux or more that you can spend now.
  • You follow Roblox's rules, and your account is in good standing.
  • You can fill in a valid tax form for the United States, even if you live elsewhere.

Robux from a sale are held for a few days first, and are pending until then. A game pass sale is held for about 5 days, between 3 and 7. The hold times page lists every kind of sale.

Nobody can cash out Robux for you. A site or a person who asks for your password to do it is a scam.

The Robux pending time calculator gives the day the Robux of a sale arrive.

How to cash out Robux, step by step

  1. Check your earned Robux

Open your Creator Dashboard on Roblox. It shows how many earned Robux you can cash out. You need at least 30,000.

  2. Open the DevEx page

Roblox's DevEx page opens from the dashboard. Choose how many Robux to cash out. You can ask once each calendar month.

  3. Set up your payment

The first time, Roblox's payment company asks how you want to be paid. PayPal, a bank transfer, a wire and a cheque are the usual choices.

  4. Fill in your tax form

The payment company also asks for a tax form. People in the US fill in a W-9. Everyone else fills in a W-8, usually the W-8BEN.

  5. Wait for the check

Roblox checks every request. The first one takes about 10 working days, and later ones about 5.

  6. Get the money

Once the request is approved, the money is sent the way you chose. Your Robux leave your balance when you ask, not when you are paid.

Why some Robux are worth more, and some less

Roblox pays three rates. The normal rate is $0.0038 for each Robux. It has applied since .

Robux you earned before that day keep the older rate of $0.0035. Roblox pays those out first, before any others.

Since , Robux spent by adults in the United States who proved their age are worth $0.0054. This is the US 18+ rate. It counts for passes, developer products, subscriptions and private servers, not for avatar items.

You do not choose the rate. Roblox pays your older Robux first, then your US 18+ Robux, then the rest. The DevEx calculator follows the same order, and the DevEx rates page has every rate since it began.

What the payout costs you

Roblox does not charge for a cash-out. The payment company that sends the money does.

PayPal outside the US keeps $1.00 and 2% of the payout, but never more than $21.00. In the US it keeps $0.10 and 2%, at most $1.00.

If the dollars are changed into your own money, the payment company keeps between 1.9% and 3% more. Bank transfers, wires and cheques have their own fees, which Roblox shows only when you ask.

The game revenue calculator follows a sale through every step, from the Robux a player pays to the money you get.

Tax on a cash-out

From , Roblox treats a cash-out as a royalty. It may then keep back US tax, the tax kept back, before it pays you.

The day you are paid decides, not the day you ask. Roblox recommends asking by for a payout without it.

From then, without a valid tax form, Roblox keeps back 24% of the payout. With one, what it keeps depends on where you live and how much came from US players.

The DevEx tax calculator estimates it for your country. It is an estimate, not tax advice.

Robux you cannot cash out

Robux you bought in a pack or with a gift card can be spent, but never cashed out. The same goes for Robux someone sent you.

Robux you get from reselling a Limited item someone else made do not count either.

People who offer to buy your Robux for money outside Roblox often take the Robux and pay nothing. This site does not link to or recommend anyone who buys or sells Robux.

What Roblox has announced

Roblox has announced Roblox Wallet, a new way to pay creators. Roblox says it starts rolling out in December 2026.

It starts with creators based in the United States who are aged 18 or over and work on their own as sole proprietors.

Roblox has also announced that DevEx stays available in the United States until the middle of 2027. Everyone else keeps cashing out through DevEx.

The guide to the DevEx changes follows each change, and our data updates give the announcement with its date.

What this guide cannot tell you

  • Your own balance. Only your Creator Dashboard shows how many of your Robux are older, US 18+ or normal.
  • The fees of a bank transfer, a wire or a cheque. Roblox shows them only when you ask for a payout.
  • Your tax. It depends on your form, your country and your buyers, and only a tax adviser can tell you what you owe.
  • How Roblox rounds. Roblox does not say, so the examples round down to a whole Robux and to the nearest cent, like its own examples.
  • Future changes. Roblox has changed the rates before, and we update this guide when it does.
