DevEx changes
DevEx changes: higher rates, a rate for US adults, and tax kept back.

The short answer
DevEx is how Roblox pays creators real money for Robux they earned. Roblox has changed it several times, and more changes are announced.
Today Roblox pays $0.0038 for each earned Robux at the normal rate. Older Robux are worth $0.0035, and US 18+ Robux $0.0054.
From , Roblox may keep back US tax from a payout. Roblox recommends asking for a payout by to be paid without it.
Every DevEx rate change
| Robux | Per thousand | Minimum payout | Rate since |
|---|---|---|---|
| Older Robux | $3.50 | $105.00 | |
| US 18+ Robux | $5.40 | $162.00 | |
| All other earned Robux | $3.80 | $114.00 |
What Roblox pays for each kind of earned Robux, in the order it pays them out, and since when. Checked on .
The DevEx rate change to the normal rate
On , Roblox raised the DevEx rate for newly earned Robux to $0.0038. Robux earned from that day on are worth more.
Robux earned before that day kept the older rate of $0.0035. Roblox pays those out first, so your first payouts after the change can be worth less than you expect.
The older rate itself dates from . Before that, Roblox paid less again. The DevEx rates page has the whole history.
The US 18+ rate
Since , Robux spent by adults in the United States who proved their age are worth $0.0054. This is the US 18+ rate.
It counts for game passes, developer products, subscriptions and private servers, not for avatar items. A creator anywhere in the world can earn it, as long as the buyer is an adult in the US.
Roblox pays these Robux right after your older ones, and before the rest. The DevEx calculator follows that order when you type your balance.
Tax kept back from payouts
From , Roblox treats a DevEx payout as a royalty for US tax. It may then keep back tax, the tax kept back, before it pays you, by these rules.
- A person in the US with a valid tax form, the W-9: nothing kept back.
- Anyone without a valid tax form: 24% of the whole payout.
- Outside the US with a valid form, usually the W-8BEN: your country's treaty rate, but only on the share of sales from US players.
- A country without a tax treaty: 30% on that share.
The day you are paid decides, not the day you ask. Roblox asks for valid tax forms by .
The DevEx tax calculator works out these cases for your own payout, your country and your buyers.
How much tax is kept back
Tax kept back = payout × share from US players × your country's rate
- payout
- What Roblox pays for your Robux, in US dollars.
- share from US players
- The part of your sales that came from players in the US. Only that part is taxed when your tax form is valid.
- your country's rate
- The rate of your country's tax treaty with the US, or 30% without one.
What the change means for one payout
| Case | Rate | Taxed part | Kept back | You keep |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Paid the day before the start | 0% | 100% | $0.00 | $380.00 |
| US person with a valid form | 0% | 100% | $0.00 | $380.00 |
| No valid tax form | 24% | 100% | $91.20 | $288.80 |
| Germany, with a valid form | 0% | 100% | $0.00 | $380.00 |
| Türkiye, with a valid form | 10% | 40% | $15.20 | $364.80 |
| Brazil, with a valid form | 30% | 100% | $114.00 | $266.00 |
What Roblox would keep back from one payout of $380.00. Each amount is an estimate, not tax advice, and the rate of Türkiye is not confirmed for DevEx payouts. Worked out by the same code as the DevEx tax calculator. Rules checked on .
Roblox Wallet and DevEx in the US, as announced
Roblox has announced Roblox Wallet, a new way to pay creators. Roblox says it starts rolling out in December 2026.
It starts with creators based in the United States who are aged 18 or over and work on their own as sole proprietors.
Roblox has also announced that DevEx stays available in the United States until the middle of 2027. Our data updates give the announcement with its date.
So far Roblox has named only creators in the United States for the Wallet. Creators elsewhere keep cashing out through DevEx, and this guide will say if that changes.
Other recent Roblox DevEx changes
Roblox has changed how creators earn the Robux they cash out, too. It ended the sale of game passes and developer products from other games, and added Robux transfers.
It also made avatar items share their price in the same way, whether 2D or 3D. The Robux tax calculator uses the shares that apply today.
None of these changed the DevEx rates themselves. They changed how many earned Robux a sale leaves you.
What has not changed
You still need at least 30,000 earned Robux to cash out, and you must be 13 or older. You can ask for a payout once each calendar month.
Roblox still checks every request. The first one takes about 10 working days, and later ones about 5.
Only earned Robux count, as before. Robux you bought or were sent can be spent, but never cashed out.
What to do now
Check your balance
Your Creator Dashboard shows how many of your earned Robux are older, US 18+ or normal.
Fill in your tax form
Make sure the payment company has a valid tax form for you. Without one, 24% of every payout made on or after is kept back.
Plan your payout day
The day you are paid decides which rules apply. The DevEx tax calculator shows the difference for your country.
Watch for the Wallet
The Wallet starts with US creators aged 18 or over who work alone. If that is you, look out for Roblox's message about it.
How we follow DevEx changes
A small program regularly compares our figures with Roblox's own pages. When one of those pages changes, a notice appears on every page of this site that quotes it.
The notice stays until we have read the change and updated the figures. Every change we make is listed with its date in our data updates.
If you see a figure here that no longer matches Roblox, tell us through the contact page.
What this guide cannot tell you
- Changes Roblox has not announced yet. We follow Roblox's own pages and update this guide when they change.
- Your tax. It depends on your form, your country and your buyers, and only a tax adviser can tell you what you owe.
- Which treaty rate Roblox applies. Roblox has not said which column of the US tax office's table it uses.
- How Roblox rounds. Roblox does not say, so we round to the nearest cent.
