Robux

Robux are the money you spend inside Roblox. You buy them in packs with real money, and creators earn them when players buy from them.

The Robux prices page lists every pack.

Roblox gift card

A Roblox gift card is a card from a shop that adds credit to a Roblox account. The credit buys Robux at the website's prices, or Roblox Plus.

The Robux gift card calculator shows how many Robux a card buys.

Earned Robux

Earned Robux are Robux you got from selling things: passes, items, subscriptions and rewards. Robux you bought, got as a gift or got from a transfer do not count.

Only earned Robux can be cashed out.

DevEx

DevEx, short for Developer Exchange, is how Roblox pays creators real money for earned Robux. You need a minimum of earned Robux and must be old enough.

So what is DevEx? Roblox pays every creator who cashes out through it, at a fixed rate for each earned Robux.

The DevEx rates page shows what Roblox pays, and the DevEx calculator works out a payout.

The Roblox hold times page lists the hold of each kind of sale.

The price floor is the lowest price Roblox lets you set for an avatar item on the Marketplace. Roblox shows it in your Creator Dashboard.

Progressive share

A progressive share grows with the price. On the Marketplace, the further above its floor you price an item, the larger the part of the sale you keep.

UGC

UGC, short for user-generated content, means avatar items that players make, such as clothes, hats and hair. To sell one you pay an upload fee and a publishing advance.

Limited

A Limited is an avatar item sold in a fixed number. Once sold out, players can resell it, and each resale pays the reseller, the creator and Roblox a share.

Transfer

A transfer is Robux one player sends to another through a game, such as a donation. The game keeps a share, and Robux from a transfer cannot be cashed out.

Roblox Plus

Roblox Plus is Roblox's monthly plan. It gives money off things you buy with Robux, but never off Robux packs.

The Roblox Plus price page shows whether it pays for itself.

Tax kept back

Tax kept back, or withholding, is money Roblox must hold back for the US tax office before it pays you. It applies to DevEx payouts made from on.

The DevEx tax calculator estimates it.

Roblox Wallet

Roblox Wallet is Roblox's new way to pay creators, announced for December 2026. It is first for US sole proprietors aged 18 or older, and Roblox plans to end DevEx in the United States in 2027.

What this glossary cannot do

  • Keep up with Roblox's own words by itself. Roblox renames things from time to time, and we update this page when it does.
  • Cover every word of Roblox. It explains the words of buying, selling and cashing out that this site uses.
  • Give advice. Where a word touches tax, it explains it and does not tell you what to do.
