How the Robux tax works

A game pass is something players buy once in your game. When someone buys yours, Roblox keeps 30% of the price. You get the other 70%.

Players call the part Roblox keeps the Robux tax. It is not a real tax. It is the fee Roblox takes on every sale, and no tax office gets it.

Roblox pays only whole Robux. When your part is not a whole number, it is rounded down. A pass of 90 Robux pays you 63, and Roblox keeps 27.

Developer products, private servers and Robux subscriptions follow the same rule. A developer product is something players can buy again and again, like coins. A private server is a copy of your game for one player and their friends.

How to calculate the Robux tax

You get = price × 70%, rounded down

price
What the buyer pays for your item, in Robux.
You get
What Roblox adds to your account after the sale. It is always a whole number.
rounded down
Any part of a Robux is dropped. Roblox never pays a piece of a Robux.
The other way
To find the price for the Robux you want, divide them by 70% and round up. That is the lowest price that pays them.

Why some calculators are one Robux off

Some calculators work with decimals and lose a Robux on the way. At some round prices they show one Robux less than you really get, as for the pass above.

This one counts in whole Robux, the way Roblox does. Your part and Roblox's part always add up to the price, with nothing lost and nothing made up.

Avatar items, Limiteds and transfers

An avatar item is clothing or an accessory you made. When it sells inside a game, three sides share the price. An item sold for 400 Robux pays you 120, the game's owner 160 and Roblox 120.

If you sell the item in your own game, you are also the owner. Then you get both parts.

A Limited is an item with a fixed number of copies. Players can sell a Limited they bought to another player.

A Limited sold again for 1,000 Robux pays the seller 500 and the item's maker 100. The affiliate gets 100 and Roblox keeps 300. The affiliate is the place the sale came through: Roblox calls this the seller or affiliate share and says no more about it.

A transfer is Robux one player sends to another inside a game. When a player sends 100 Robux, the player who gets them receives 90 and the game keeps 10. One transfer is between 10 and 500 Robux.

The split of every kind of sale is on the Roblox fees page. Earned Robux explains which Robux from your sales you can cash out.

One avatar item on the Marketplace, sold at its price floor and above it. Worked out by the same code as the calculator. Rules checked on .

Why the Marketplace needs your price floor

The Marketplace is Roblox's shop for avatar items. There your share is not fixed. It grows as your price rises above the item's price floor.

The price floor is the lowest price Roblox allows for that kind of item. Only your Creator Dashboard shows it, so type it under More options.

At the floor you keep the smallest share. An item with a floor of 100 Robux, sold for 150, pays you 62. Sold for 600 on a floor of 100, it pays you 420.

How to set a price for the Robux you want

  1. Decide what you want to get

Think of the Robux you want from one sale. Say you want 700 Robux.

  2. Open More options

Choose “What I want to get”. Then type your amount in the field.

  3. Read the price

The calculator shows the lowest price that pays you that amount. For 700 Robux the price is 1,000.

  4. Check what Roblox keeps

At a price of 1,000 Roblox keeps 300 Robux. The rest is yours.

When you can spend the Robux

You do not get the Robux at once. Roblox holds the Robux from a new sale for a few days. This protects players who ask for their money back.

For a game pass Roblox's pages say the wait is about 5 days. Its announcement on pending sales put it at usually 3 to 7 days, depending on the risk of fraud.

Robux from avatar items wait longer: 30 days. After the wait the Robux are yours to spend.

Is the Robux tax a real tax?

No. The Robux tax is a fee, and it stays with Roblox. Real tax can come later, when you turn Robux into money.

Roblox calls that step DevEx. DevEx is how Roblox pays creators real money. You need at least 30,000 earned Robux, and you must be at least 13 years old.

From , Roblox may keep back some tax for the US tax office when it pays you. How much depends on where you live and on your tax form.

What this calculator cannot know

  • Roblox does not say how it rounds a part that is not a whole number. We round down, like the examples Roblox gives.
  • Between the prices Roblox lists for the Marketplace, we work your share out in a straight line. Roblox does not confirm that, so the calculator says “about” there.
  • It does not know your item's price floor. Only your Creator Dashboard shows that.
  • It works on one sale at a time. It does not add up many sales.
  • Roblox can change its rules at any time. We check them often and show the date.

Questions

What is the Robux tax rate?

Roblox keeps 30% of a game pass sale. You keep 70%, rounded down to a whole Robux.

What price gives me exactly 63 Robux?

90 Robux. At that price you get 63 Robux and Roblox keeps 27. Any lower price pays you less.

Is a Roblox tax calculator the same for avatar items?

No. A Roblox gamepass tax calculator uses the 70% rule, but an avatar item sold in a game pays you 30%. On the Marketplace your share grows as the price rises above the item's price floor, so choose the kind of sale under More options.

Is the Robux calculator after tax the same for transfers?

No. When a player sends Robux inside a game, the game keeps 10% and Roblox keeps nothing. One transfer is 10 to 500 Robux, and Robux you get this way cannot be cashed out.

Does Roblox Plus change what I get?

No. A buyer with Roblox Plus pays less, and Roblox pays the difference. A pass still pays you 70% of its full price.

Why does the calculator only take whole numbers?

Roblox does not split a Robux. Every price and every payment is a whole number.

Who runs this calculator?

Roconomy does. It is an independent site, and Roblox does not run it. Read more about Roconomy, or go back to the Robux calculator.
