Robux transfer and donations
A Robux transfer reaches your friend minus the game's small share.

The short answer
Roblox has two ways to give Robux to another player. You can send them in a game that offers transfers, or buy a game pass they made.
A transfer gives the other player 90% of what you send, and the game keeps 10%. A game pass gives its maker 70% of the price, and Roblox keeps 30%.
Robux from a transfer can only be spent. Robux from a game pass are earned, so they can one day be cashed out.
How a Robux transfer works
A transfer is Robux sent from one player to another. It happens inside a game whose maker has turned transfers on.
- Only players with Roblox Plus can send a transfer.
- Each transfer is between 10 and 500 Robux.
- The game keeps 10%, and the other player gets the rest.
- Roblox itself keeps nothing from a transfer.
The game's share counts as earned Robux for its maker. The Robux the other player gets do not: they can spend them, but never cash them out.
What a transfer leaves
Robux that arrive = Robux you send × 90%
- Robux you send
- Between 10 and 500 Robux in one transfer.
- 90%
- The other player's share. The game keeps 10% as the Robux transfer fee.
- Robux that arrive
- Rounded down to a whole Robux, because Roblox only pays whole Robux.
A transfer, worked out
Say you send 100 Robux to a friend. Your friend gets 90 Robux, and the game keeps 10.
Your friend can spend those Robux on anything in Roblox. They do not count toward cashing out.
To give a friend a set number of Robux, send a little more than that. The game's share always comes off what you send, never on top.
How Robux donations work
Donation games let players give Robux to each other. They used to sell each player's game pass right inside the donation game.
Roblox has ended sales of game passes from other games. At the same time it added transfers, so a donation game can now pass Robux on directly.
So a donation game today either uses transfers, or sends you to the other player's own game to buy their pass. The game's page or rules usually say which.
When you buy someone's game pass, its maker earns 70% of the price. Roblox keeps 30% as its share of the sale.
What a donation through a game pass leaves
| You pay | They earn | Roblox keeps |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 0 | 1 |
| 2 | 1 | 1 |
| 7 | 4 | 3 |
| 90 | 63 | 27 |
| 170 | 119 | 51 |
| 350 | 245 | 105 |
| 700 | 490 | 210 |

Transfer or game pass: which leaves more
- A transfer: the other player gets 90%, which they can only spend.
- A game pass: its maker earns 70%, which counts toward cashing out.
- A group payout: members get Robux from the group's funds, in the shares the group's owner sets.
A transfer leaves more Robux, but they cannot become money. A game pass leaves fewer, but they are earned.
For a player who only wants to spend the Robux, a transfer is better. For someone who saves up to cash out, a game pass is. The Roblox fees page lists every share.
How to send Robux to someone
Through a transfer
With Roblox Plus, join a game that offers transfers and choose the player and the amount. Your friend gets 90% of it.
Through a game pass
Ask your friend to make a game pass in their own game and buy it. They earn 70% of the price, after a hold of a few days.
Through a group
If you own a group, you can pay its members from the group's funds. The group payout calculator shows how a split works out.
As a present
A Roblox gift card can be given as a present. It becomes Roblox Credit, and your friend chooses the Robux.
Sending Robux from a group
A group is a team on Roblox that can own games. The Robux its games earn go into the group's funds, not to one person.
The group's owner can pay those Robux to members, once or as a share of everything the group earns. A share is a percent, and Roblox rounds each part to a whole Robux.
In the example of the group payout calculator, a game earns 1,000 Robux and pays its two makers first. The group's first member then gets 250 of those 1,000 Robux.
When donated Robux arrive
Robux from a game pass are held for a few days before the maker can spend them, and are pending until then. The hold is usually 5 days, between 3 and 7.
Roblox holds them to catch payments that turn out to be fraud. The Robux pending time calculator shows the day for a sale, and the hold times page every kind of sale.
If you make a donation game
A game that turns transfers on earns 10% of every transfer made in it. Those Robux are earned Robux for the game's owner.
Every transfer is between 10 and 500 Robux, and only players with Roblox Plus can send one. Plan your game's buttons around those limits.
Game passes and developer products sold in your game still pay you 70% of their price. The Robux tax calculator shows what each sale leaves.
Staying safe with Robux donations
Never send Robux because someone promises to send more back. That promise is the most common Robux scam.
Never give your password or a code from your email to get Robux. Nobody needs them to donate to you.
Before you donate, ask a parent if the Robux were bought with family money. A donation cannot be undone.
Robux transfers and Roblox Plus
Roblox Plus is Roblox's monthly plan. It costs $4.99 a month in the US, and it is needed to send a transfer.
Players without Plus can still donate through game passes. The guide to Roblox Plus vs Premium explains what else Plus gives.
What this guide cannot tell you
- How a particular donation game works. Its maker chooses game passes or transfers.
- How Roblox rounds a share. Roblox does not say, so the examples round down to a whole Robux, like its own examples.
- Whether a donation was bought with someone else's money. Talk about it before you give.

The game the transfer happens in keeps 10%. The other player gets 90%, and Roblox keeps nothing.
